It’s no secret that cool, neutral colors have forever been desired in ocean front property and beach-inspired homes. There’s a new neutral on the rise and West Coast Carpet & Tile is excited to help you blend some of the new trends into your existing decor.

We’ve proudly carried Shaw flooring products for decades and found a great deal of inspiration recently from their research on how emotions and design are impacted by location. After sending a team of hard and soft surface designers around the country, Shaw Industries chose a color palette for its 2019 Color of the Year. They’re calling it “Whisper” and you can read more about it here

As a result. we’re recommending flooring options that are versatile, dependable, and suggesting materials that will infuse some color alongside the white/grays we’ve all come to know and love. While WCCT was around during the days when wall to wall carpeting was the go-to option for residential flooring, we’re now marrying a mix of materials throughout homes in Sarasota and Bradenton allowing us to help you make the most use of your space and budget.

    Consider Environmental Factors

Florida’s climate comes with several challenges that can and will affect your flooring: humidity, sand, and rain to name a few. With so many flooring materials available, and even more needs to meet, it’s important to consider environmental influences when selecting the best flooring for your property.

Even in the heat of Summer, Floridian’s crave softness and comfort in their homes. On cooler days, Florida homeowners want to fling open the windows to take advantage of the breeze, (unknowingly getting lots of sand and moisture inside) without worrying about how it will affect the floor underfoot. Vacation rental owners near Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key expect flooring options that are easy to clean, durable, and fashion-forward. Tourists want to feel cool tile on their tired toes after travel and blistering hot beach days, but Snowbirds don’t want to sacrifice the plush comforts only carpet offers. On the contrary, others who have dealt with flooding in the past will likely flock to some of our many waterproof options, disregarding the comforts of carpet all together.

Hard surfaces like tile are preferred in moisture-prone areas (bathrooms and kitchens) and we have some truly unique tips and tricks of the trade that will mimic any look regardless of your style or taste. Ask about porcelain tiles that have thinner grout lines for a modern, polished look! Great for bathrooms ranging from large master baths to small powder rooms. Carpets are still the leading choice for private spaces (bedrooms and offices), as it offers a soundproof safe place to play, and softens slip and falls. Luxury vinyl planking for every other room like living, dining, hallways, and dens/rec rooms is on the rise. They won’t warp, are easy to clean, and require little to no maintenance. Inquire about porcelain wood-look planks for a more refined appearance!

Selecting the best flooring option for your property may seem like a daunting task, but our committed crew has the experience and knowledge needed to break all of the options down for you in a way that makes sense and is easy to navigate.
